Why?
Why do you read my blog?
I posed this question on another blog that had a link to my blog. The response was “I just find your discussions of your experience with the Church fascinating, given that I've only recently been going. Also the stuff about attempts at self-sufficiency…”.
Recently, Julie asked me how many people I baptized and how many weddings I performed and I answered “I don’t know”. For some reason, I react negatively to counting heads. I remember people and experiences and these are important to me but the numbers aren’t.
So, when I ask “why do you read my blog” it’s not to change my posts to increase the number of readers. Rather, it’s a way of asking “what is there about me or my posts that interest you?”
Psychology, sociology, people and the world in general intrigue me. This is just a curiosity question. I have come to the point that I enjoy writing but, most of all, I enjoy asking questions. I think learning can be an addiction.

I like your blog, hence you, because you remind me of my dad, who also is an ex-baptist minister. He thinks thoughtfully and deeply about anything and everything. I have even emailed him some of your posts. He also dislikes counting heads and uses the word 'pride' in the same context you do!
My dad and I are very close. We sometimes agree to disagree. Your blog feels like home:)
I enjoy reading your blog first and foremost because I believe you and I share a similar approach to life in general. You blog radiates a sense of truth which I am always attracted to.
You write beautifully, are intelligent, thoughtful and seem to have a gentle soul. I can not detect any pretense or arrogance in your voice. You seem to be seeking truth.
Your choice of subject matter is almost always evocative.
You seem to be the type of person with whom I would enjoy having a cup of coffee and some conversation.
You seem like a nice, folksy type of person, smart and interesting, but not full of yourself or overly opinionated or self-righteous.
Anvilcloud has taken the words from my mouth!
I think you have strengths where I have weaknesses and so I can learn from you.
Above all you seem a TOLERANT person. I say this partly because I realise I was insensitive in my comments at one point and you put up with me!
I like reading your blog because you are opinionated, tough, self-reliant, headstrong, anti-social, and sometimes troubled, yet temper that in favor of reason, lovingkindness, care, concern, and camaraderie. I like sharing northern Arizona with you! You are a brother warrior.
For me, its because you seem to approach life warmly and openly. You have sorted out what you want, what makes you happy, but still sometimes are delighted or fascinated by something new.
I enjoy reading your thoughts, seeing the endearment you bring to relationships. Straightforward, honest, open - isn't that what relationship, friendship is all about? I hope to see more on your other blog - I'm especially interested in seeing how you can succeed in using minimal resources, and also, what the effect would be, living 'far out' away from things. I would think the sparceness would have an inner impact, a greater sensitivity. I would like to go there.
It's your wisdom my dear man; your compassion; your individuality--I value every comment you leave on my blog. Very few people impress me--you do!!
I read your blog because it strengthens my world view while giving me a glimpths in the life of some one with more expereince then me.
Your choice of names for the blog and blogger gave me the first hint.
I keep on coming back because of your honesty and curiosity, your depth of thought and feeling.
You are sharing your life and I feel richer to be included.
And I like the fact that you are livin off the grid.
You speak with intelligence. Your posts, subject matter, your views on such, thoughtful.
I read your posts because you spread a mature and therefore calming feeling with your words. I also get to see your interesting point of view over topics, and it's so good to widen my mind, something I'm always willing to do.
I read because I identify strongly with your philosophy - Life is a Gift. Somehow that realization changed everything for me.
